Welcome

I am that girl, who from my tween years on, carried a camera in my back pocket and took photos everywhere I went. I was counted on by my co-workers, friends and family to get the shots and send prints to them later. I can't remember a time where that wasn't me. So naturally in my early twenties I began photographing friends and family for their portraits, engagements and weddings. I am a lifestyle photographer living in Europe. Our family joined the Navy in 2010 and decided to travel the world, one duty station at a time. We are currently stationed in Rota Spain. We were just a hop skip and a jump from our beautiful Capital, Washington DC at our last duty station and before that we were in Chicago. We have been so blessed to see such beautiful places and meet such wonderful people. In 2014 my husband, Jonathan and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary, our daughter's 11th birthday and will celebrate our son's 3rd birthday soon. It has been such a wonderful year. I am getting my feet planted firmly on the ground here in Spain and I would love to hear from you! We strive to give back to our community, we offer a military discount(see pricing), and for referrals and reviews we give free prints. We love our clients. Please don't hesitate to email us if ever you think our services are needed for our Hero's and Survivors.

Your Experience

Newborn Experience:
Okay, so you’re having a baby…woohoo!  You spent the last 9 months waiting, planning, decorating & dreaming about the life that’s been baking inside you.  Hopefully, one of those dreams is to have some amazing newborn portraits taken of your little bun.
Are you wondering if 5 months along is too early to schedule your session?  Never to early in our books. We would prefer if you would call us immediately after you see the positive sign, that might be a bit extreme, but we are being honest. Most expecting mothers will get penciled into the schedule roughly 2 to 3 months before their baby is due.
Once you've booked your session with us ... what's next? After you’ve had the baby*, shoot me a quick email to let me know, and I will get you on the schedule as soon as possible.

*Please NOTE:  A newborn session needs to be photographed within the first 2 weeks of babies life.  Ideally, between days 4 and 8.  Babies who are under 2 weeks sleep soundly, curl easily, and have clear skin.  After that 2 weeks, it can be a much more challenging session (for everyone!)…babies start to uncurl, they get ‘baby acne’, and they are not quite as sleepy…
Here are some tips for the day for your newborn:

*newborns can take up to 3 hours, because they run the show!

*  Dress baby in loose clothing (no onsie) that is easy to slip off…also, try and keep his/her diaper on loose-to avoid red diaper lines, do not put socks on baby either...we don't want sock lines.

*  Feel free to bring any blankets/props that you think we could use…the majority of the blankets/hats on my website are things we already have-so don’t worry about buying anything!  However, if you like shopping for that kind of thing and want to bring something of your own, we suggest ‘www.etsy.com’, that’s where we drool over tons of baby items

*  Attempt to give baby a few ‘awake times’ during the morning…a little bath time always helps!

*  Make sure baby has a full tummy right before you leave…if you bottle feed, please don’t forget a bottle!!!

*  Bring a pacifier, even if baby doesn’t typically take one.

*  Extra outfits for you and hubby (you can keep them in the car, just in case there’s a pee/poop incident).

*  Baby will be naked for most of the pics… but don’t forget extra diapers and wipes!

*  During the session, we often like to have someone other than the mom be the ‘main helper’(like daddy!)…. babies can smell mom’s milk a mile away, which can sometimes make them twitchy!

The session day is all about YOU!  I want to hear your ideas, thoughts and opinions.  I want you to love these images…not look back and say, “well, that was awkward.”  After you book your session, I’ll have a customer information form for you to fill out~I encourage people to really write out their likes and dislikes, etc.  I want the images to reflect your family, not my obsession with the latest trend in portraits….although quite often I will have an idea I’d like to try out…I always make sure that the client is interested in my plan before I launch it on them!!

In Studio Experience:
We have a minimal studio set up at home, it is basic and just for one child or a toddler a baby. We are not set up at this time to take photos indoors for adults, unless in your own home with lots of windows and natural light.

Outdoor Experience:
We're open to just about any outdoor location…an old barn in your grandpa’s backyard, a cool brick wall you pass on your way to work, your living room couch thrown in the middle of a wheat field.  The sky’s the limit!  Speaking of the sky, we do need to take lighting into consideration.  During warm weather months, 2 hours before dusk is one of the best and most favorite times to photograph…the light is heavenly!

I enjoy photographing families outdoors.  It seems that everyone is more comfortable and happy when they have room to roam and breath.  Happy families always equal  beautiful pictures!

The style of your experience is a combination of classic portraits and candid/lifestyle type of photographs. My goal is to get a nice mixture of both.  I love a great family picture where everyone is looking happily at the camera and at the same time I love getting the fun shots… laughing, crying or dancing around -unposed and natural.  Everyone has a unique personality and I’m going to try my best to bring it out during your experience!
